Whiskey Wednesday!
As always, all open bottles of whiskey are 25% off a pour from 4pm-10pm. We have over 35 bottles of different Bourbon, American, Rye, Irish, Japanese and Scotch Whiskey's to try. This week we are opening 3 new bottles. The first bottle is from Kansas City distillery J. Rieger, their 2025 Monogram Whiskey release. What sets this whiskey apart is its unique blend and aging process. The Solera aging method, a technique borrowed from sherry production, adds another layer of complexity. By continuously blending younger whiskeys with older ones across ten casks, the distillery creates a spirit that’s always evolving. Starting the Monogram program in 2017, Rieger has filled the 10, 500-liter, 100-year-old Oloroso Sherry barrels from Spain's Williams & Humbert Solera Especial in Jerez with a different whiskey blend each year. This year, for the 3rd straight year, they have filled the barrels with a combination of Straight Bourbon, Straight Rye, and Light Corn Whiskey. The solera finish, along with the addition of a bit of Oloroso sherry, has resulted in a whiskey that leads with notes of dried fruit, dark chocolate, baking spice, leather, tobacco, and toasted oak, followed by a slightly sweet finish with notes of vanilla and raisin. - via robbreport.com
Our second bottle is Highland Park Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky, batch 5. Scoring 94 on Whiskey Advocate, this batch was matured in a combination of first-fill sherry, bourbon, and sherry-seasoned American oak, creating a complex and balanced whisky that belies its high proof. Toasted vanilla, sharp citrus, and a whisper of peat rise from the glass, backed by clove smoke, herbs, and honeyed fruits. The aromas carry over to the palate and add briny air and punchy, tingly peppercorn. - via whiskeyadvocate.com
Our third bottle is Henry McKenna 10-year, Kentucky Straight, Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon. Produced by Heaven Hill, Henry McKenna pays homage to Henry McKenna, an Irishman who came to America in 1837 and settled in Kentucky, where he set out to create a better bourbon using his family’s recipe. To be labeled Bottled-in-Bond, the whiskey must be the product of one distillation season and one distiller at a single distillery, aged in a federally bonded warehouse under U.S. government supervision for at least four years, and it must be bottled at exactly 100 proof. Additionally, the bottled in bond label must clearly identify the distillery where it was distilled and where it was bottled, if different. The 2025 bourbon opens up on the palate, with a perfect intensity and balance of flavor. Caramel, vanilla, and just the right amount of oak make up the base. Caramelized sugar and graham cracker add depth, but the flavor is never pushed too far towards the sweet side. Rye spice emerges on the backend and builds slowly through the mid to tail end of the sip. It’s finely tuned, impeccably balanced, and touches what could be described as what “bourbon” should taste like. In a word, excellent. - via breakingbourbon.com
These 3 bottles will be opened at 7pm.
