Our dear friend, Jeremy Kneeland, owner of The Goat Brewing Co, is in the fight of his life being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer last August. What began as unexpected news has quickly turned into a challenging journey, filled with difficult treatements, uncertainty and overwhelming medical expenses. As of late March, Jeremy has completed 16 rounds of chemo and has learned he is a candidate for treatment to his lung lesions as well as a Whipple procedure to remove his pancreatic lesion.
While insurance covers part of his care, some promising, potentially life-saving treatments/drugs are not covered, leaving significant out-of-pocket costs for him and his family. These treatments offer hope - hope for more time, more memories, and more moments with the people he loves most.

August 12th
Whiskey Wednesday!
As always, all open bottles of whiskey are 25% off a pour from 4pm-10pm. We have over 35 bottles of different Bourbon, American, Rye, Irish, Japanese and Scotch Whiskey's to try. This week we are opening 2 new bottles.
The 1st bottle is Widow Jane, The Vaults. This 15-year blend of straight bourbons was finished in "Mythological Oak". "This year’s finishing casks are made from oak harvested from the ancient forests surrounding Amfilochia, a mountainous city on the Mediterranean coast of Greece. Oak trees in the region are also prone to lightning strikes, adding a layer of mythology and, perhaps, a celestial char to the wood foreshadowing their future as whiskey barrels…. The wood used in barrel assembly is air-seasoned for 1-2 years and imparts notes of wild honey, mountain sage, and dried fig, enriching The Vaults’ intensity, structure and length. Early flavors are more pastry-like than expected, with a big hit of glazed honeybuns on the first few sips. It’s sweet and not terribly strong in oak character, at least to start, though tannins and texture both build with more tastes. Fruit comes in closer to the midpalate. It’s predominantly cherry with a little pear and persimmon, and the latter two fruits coupled with more than a dash of cinnamon sugar. Minerality carries over from the nose, less saline and more of a calcium/magnesium split; it may be going out on a limb, but I suspect at least some of that comes from highly-aged Cascade Hollow distillate. Artificial vanilla extract and black walnut highlights the transition from back palate to finish"-drinkhacker.com
The 2nd bottle is The Balvenie Single Malt, Single Barrel, First Fill 12-year Scotch Whisky. "Single Barrel 12-Year-Old is a unique single malt drawn from an exceptional first-fill ex-bourbon barrel that not only epitomizes our house style but exemplifies The Balvenie’s dedication to traditional craft and quality." - thebalvenie.com. It is described as "Rich fruit, raisin, candied apricot, toasted oak, sweet honey, oaky spice, hints of light pepper. Finishing smooth but rich finish with an oily mouthfeel – leaves you with sweet honey and fruit flavors with a hint of oaky spice and light pepper on the tail end."-secretwhiskeysociety.com
These 2 bottles will be opened at 7pm.

Books & Beer - Book Swap
Saturday, February 15th - 12-2pm
Come and make new friends and get free books.
Come join us at The Goat Brewing Co taproom on the 3rd Saturday of the Month (typically) for our Book Swap. The taproom opens at noon and swap will begin. This is a FREE event.
Here’s how it will work:
Bring 3 books with you, take 3 new-to-you books home. Bring 2 books with you, take 2 new-to-you books home…you get the point. You can always bring more books than you take home but you should not take more books home than you brought.
Come in, swap your books, grab a beer, and then go back and see if you want to swap again! No limit to the number of times you can swap your selections!
This will work on the honor system.
Books must be recent and in good shape. Genres include mystery, thriller, romance, action, horror and fantasy.
Any books remaining will be available at subsequent book swaps.
There is no charge for this event, but please consider supporting our small local business/brewery. The Goat Brewing Company offers several craft beers, brewed in house, fun cocktails, non-alcoholic options and a variety of yummy food and snacks. There is also outdoor seating and indoor and outdoor games.
Please take a minute to join the Book Lovers of Kansas City Facebook page! Join us on (most) Fridays for the release of Fresh and sometimes New beers, ciders, meads and other tasty treats. Be the first to get your hands on the freshest beer in town.
